Auto Notifications: How long does it take?

I have my one single feed ( my blog ) set to update on one-minute intervals which it seems to be doing quite well. I also have auto-notifications setup.

What I've noticed is that the little feedreader cube in the tray lights up when there's a new article detected, but the notification doesn't show up until much later, or what I think is happening is that it's waiting until it senses user interaction before it pops up.

If this is the case, then bravo, excellent feature. I am using the feedreader to communicate important information to users on kiosk machines (real estate office) and if this is how it works, then I'm assured that nobody will ever miss a notification.

If it's not the way it works, then is something setup incorrectly or am I missing the point of auto notification settings?

:) Unfortunatelly it's not

:) Unfortunatelly it's not exactly how it works. Icon turns yellow if there are some new articles appearing in database. But notifications popup then all this update cycle has been done. So you have 10 feeds in update and first feed has 1 new message. Now tray icon turns yellow. But notifications will appear only then the update has ended for all 10 feeds...

But there are some additional points :

*if screensaver is running then notifications do not popup and wait until user has returned.
*you can tweak notification dialog time yourelf. You have to do it in feedreader.ini. For example you set notification window display time to 99999. This is quite like one day. And this means that notifications will be displayed until one day is finished ;) or until you click on x button to close this notification window.

So I think just use this advice and you will never miss notification.

Syntax is like this :

notificationwindowvisibletime=99999
