We use SharePoint internally to manage our data here at DRS, and sometimes we provide anonymous sites within the SharePoint services to allow staff to respond to company decisions. These anonymous sites require a different log-in to standard domain access and this also goes for any RSS feeds generated as a result of blog entries.
I read with interest that your product could access feeds through a separate username and password credentials pair as this maps directly onto our scenario, and it is something that IE cannot do – the error message ‘Internet explorer is unable to update password-protected feeds.’ is displayed. Unfortunately when trying to access using Feedreader 3.14 I get the message ‘error adding feed: HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized;’.
