Proxy Authentication does not work

Hi,
I'm using Feedreader RC1 behind a proxy. I have maintained the proxy, user and password but I do not get update on any Feeds.
If I try to add a new Feed I get the erro message
"Error adding feed: Socket Error # 11001"

If you are behind proxy and

If you are behind proxy and Feedreader does not update feeds, then please answer following questions:

*Are you at home or in the office - we want to know if you are inside corporate network or you have your home proxy.
*If it's possible, please tell us what proxy software you are using. It helpful if you only tell that "its microsoft"... If it's possible, please find it out from system administrators.
*If you are using internet explorer, do you need proxy username and password or it works without them?
*If proxy is asking for password and username, is it the same as login username and password.

By answering these questions you help us dig into the problem and fix it.

Corporate Firewall with NTLM

- I'm at the office with my laptop.
- Teh corporate firewall is a NetApp NetCache proxy with NTLM authentication
- I use IE with the proxy and it picks up my username and password automaticaly. I have entered my username and password in FeedReader.
- The proxy username and password is the same as my Windows domain password. I have used both username formats "domain\username" and "username"

I have a Ethereal capture I'll send to toomas at i-systems.ee

Testing Again

My hard disk crashed over the weekend and I'm testing again.

DL'd the 3.0 RC1 beta from the main site.
Preload Feeds works after I set the proxy information.
Update All or Update Feed acts like it is working (rotates trugh groups), but does not get feeds. No error mesages.

Adding a feed gives: Error adding feed : HTTP/1.1 407 Proxy Auth. Required.

Installed Update from http://www.feedreader.com/files/feedreader.zip , still does not update or allow new feeds.

Could you please...

...download new exe from here and tell us if things started to work again.

Test not succesful...

.. replaced the exe with your new version.
Adding new Feed still generates Socket Error #11001
Updating all Feeds: It is running through all groups but no update on News

Quite strange, we have

Quite strange, we have tested feedreader with basic, digest auth. and it works.
Could you provide network trace, then I can determine auth. type,
send it please to toomas at i-systems.ee.

If you could, please send also netword trace from your browser traffic
,then I can compare difference between browser and feedreader http communication.

Similar case was, http://www.feedreader.com/node/143

Does your proxy requires password, maybe just username ?

Network trace

.. sorry, but how can I provide you the network trace?

Socket Error 11001 - Host

Socket Error 11001 - Host not found (authoritative answer)

Did you provide correct proxy servername and port.

Yes, I did not change the

Yes, I did not change the Feedreader.ini to the prior version. I reinstalled 30b3. There the settings work.

Proxy does not work here

I have a problem with proxies also. I have it configured to use my proxy server with user and password.

I do not get any error mesages, just no updates. I installed the feeds on my laptop at home, so I got one update.
This worked in 2.9. I see the problem on 3.0b4 and now 3.0RC1

I can provide network traces

Worked in 3.0b3 but not in 3.0b4

I thought perhaps this info slightly might help. 3.0b3, b4 worked fine at home but caught same simptoms behind a proxy in a Windows domain (XP SP1 client) as dcjones21 reported at Thu, 2006-04-13 17:39 with subject Proxy does not work here. 3.0b3 worked well with the proxy but 3.0b4 and RC1 doesn't. I would think a simple source diff (I prefer WinMerge at sourceforge.net) between b3 and b4 should help to find the problem. I know this is the outsider's perspective :-)

If you are behind proxy and Feedreader does not update feeds, then please answer following questions:

*Are you at home or in the office - we want to know if you are inside corporate network or you have your home proxy.

A: Didn't work in Windows domain in the office (with proxy) - worked well at home (no proxy)

*If it's possible, please tell us what proxy software you are using. It helpful if you only tell that "its microsoft"... If it's possible, please find it out from system administrators.

A: We use Squid proxy (with Linux).

*If you are using internet explorer, do you need proxy username and password or it works without them?

A: Yes, I need them.

*If proxy is asking for password and username, is it the same as login username and password.

A: Yes, the same as the domain user/pwd.

Sorry, I have no time to do some trial at the moment or read all posts (I'll try later the zip referred on this page) but wanted to publish this info.

But if...

...you download exe update (just open zip and extract exe to feedreader program files directory)

http://www.feedreader.com/files/feedreader.zip

do you get your feeds updating again?

Still No Luck

I downloaed and unziped to my program directory (C:\Program Files\FeedReader30) and Still, no updates and no errors.

i am also having problem updating internal feeds

I also have the updating problem. When i use other feedreaders to test, they can update. I have already used feedreader 3.11 beta No luck. I set a proxy to receive internet feeds and bypass it using the "Do not use proxy that start with ... " . Still cant.
