Different location for fdb and ini

Hi,

We would like to use FeedReader in a Multi-user environment, and are having problems with FeedReader not accepting db-files and ini-files being placed in a different location.

At startup, FeedReader places a db file of over 3.5 MB in the users profile. However, not all users are using FeedReader and we would like to keep our profiles clean. Therefor we would like to place these files on a personal share instead of the users profile.

I have not found a way to make FeedReader 3.11 do this. Could you please add this feature to a next release?

Thanks,
DW

Did you tried my solution,

Did you tried my solution, that has been described below ...

"You can map always network share under windows (assign some letter e:\)"

I think, the problem is not fixed disc, but UNC path; FB driver doesn't support those paths.

Thanks for your reply. Tried

Thanks for your reply.

Tried your solution, but unfortunately this only seems to work for fixed discs. We are trying to point the db-file to a (subdirectory of a) network share. Now I get an error message:

Starting...
Application can not start (16). Unable to complete network request to host "ubds0001"
Failed to establish a connection.
The system can not find the file specified.

Hope you can help me again.. :)

Thanks!

FR database doesn't support

FR database doesn't support unc paths. You can map always network share under windows (assign some letter e:\), I'm not quite sure that works (100%).

And then add to feedreader.ini this new location...

Greetings,

you can change dblocation by adding following line to feedreader.ini file,
(for example) dbdirectory=d:\work1

feedreader.ini file can be only under user profile or in \feedreader30 directory.

But just one FR instance can be connected to this db file!
