Update Fails in FeedReader 3.11 beta ( Oct-24 )

hi everyone

Many thanks to FeedReader developers for developing nice & simple feedreader. I use 3.11 beta and most part it works just fine but lately I'm having problem with " Update Period ".

Even though update period is 5 minutes, it doesn't update for 45 minutes or more.

In "Edit Feed" page it displays 45 minutes gap between last and next update.

And lately, most of the times, update just fails (Feed update temporarily failed). It doesn't display any error message either but in edit feed page smiley icon say that.

Though with the same settings and same feed URLs it updates later on.

I'll highly appreciate any help on the matter. Thanks a million in advance.

Greetings, do you have

Greetings,

do you have stable internet connection ? If FR tries to update feed and when it fails, then nextupdate is increased about 30-40 minutes.

I do Have Stable Internet Connection

hi Ingmar / FR Dev

Thanx for replying. Yes, I do have stable internet connection, it works just fine.

Now, I've change update interval to 2 minutes to all my feeds & still after some time FR shows gap of 63 / 66 minutes between last and next update.

And now update fails completely.

Does this have anything to do with "IntelliUpdate" feature? ( just a guess!)

Is there any way to remove intelliupdate feature altogether?

Many thanx, JL.

Greetings, quite odd case.

Greetings,

quite odd case. Nothing has changed in FR (update part, same as in FR3.10).

If you change update to 2 min and you are using only one connection to update feeds. Then this time is exceeded.

You could change on some feeds update interval, 15 min, 30 min, 1 h.

Could you run FR also "FeedReader Backup Utility", choose options
"Tidy up database","Fix possible database errors".

Maybe DB index is corrupt, then also some updates will last forever:)))

By the way, how many feeds are you using? Are you connect to Internet "directly" or through proxy.

hi Ingmar I have direct

hi Ingmar

I have direct internet connection. I even hard wired my laptop to the router & stopped using wireless as router was in the same room.

I just ran "FeedReader Backup Utility", afterwards it showed following errors:

Number of index page errors : 4
Number of database page errors : 1

My update interval was originally 10 min but since it started to fail I change it to 2 min. Now I'll change it back to 10 min, again.

I'll let you know if FeedReader starts updating feeds after running "FR Backup Utility".

And yea, I have approx 90 or so feeds but with same number of feeds it worked just fine for a month or so.

Default archive size is 200 articles with do not download Enclosures settings.

Since last few days I re-installed RssReader and added some more feeds to it(so total over 110 feeds) & so far its updating feeds.

Many thanx, I really appreciate your help.

Greetings, lets hope that FR

Greetings,

lets hope that FR will run 100%. ..

Today I had also 2 feed with errors
"Feed update temporarly failed".
I checked those feeds (with Firefox) and FR was right...

First had an error: "Socket Error # 10054 Connection reset by peer." and
second "Socket Error # 10060 Connection timed out.;"

If some socket error occurs, then FR will add 30-40 min to nextupdate;
our purpose was to keep FR as simple we can, so we are displaying only to user text "Feed update temporarly failed". Standard http codes are described, for example 500 or 404 etc.
