Next version of Feedreader 3.11 beta released

We are releasing next beta version of Feedreader 3.11. Please download it from here.
Changes:

  • We tried to get column sizes and positions to save correctly. But if this feature still does not work, just let us know.
  • There is new connection test functionality. You can find it from connection options or when there is problem with new feed adding. This functionality helps to track connection problems and problems with proxies.
  • Internal kernel changes

EDIT
We also disabled Javascript on local webpages (ie articles). If you really need to enable Javascript on local webpages, please add enablejavascriptonlocalpages=1 to feedreader.ini under [misc] section

Bug in kernel changes

Please fix it.

PS. in general, beta version is not bad.

Scroll little bit down, the same problem is explained below ;)))

You must save feedreader.exe into existing feedreader30 directory, this is only application file. It's not installer package.

3.11 Beta does not have a valid digital signature?

I get a security warning on executing the 3.11 beta: This file does not have a valid digital signature ...

It's not much of a problem, but doesn't happen with the real releases.

Hmm...currently we don't use digital signature at all in executables.
I guess operating system is Vista ?

Windows XP - and 3.10 does not get the same message

No, I'm using Windows XP. To see if it's a generic problem, I closed 3.11 and ran 3.10, and I get no security warning with 3.10.

The steps I took on this machine were to update first to 3.10, then immediately rename the feedreader executable and download 3.11.

I can choose to not ask before opening this file, but so far I've chosen not to do that/

Is it because the installation script normally takes care of this step?

Won't download password-protected enclosures in protected feed

I have several password-protected feeds. Feedreader 3.11 correctly downloads the articles, however it will only download enclosures in the articles if the enclosures are not password-protected.

The behaviour is:

  • the article status icons for all articles in the feed start out as the paper clip with the blue download arrow
  • unprotected enclosures download and the icon becomes a black paper clip
  • protected enclosures do not download, and the icon becomes a grey paper clip with a red exclamation mark.

I can access the enclosures Feedreader won't download by viewing the XML source of the feed, copying the link into a browser and pressing Enter, and entering the username and password when prompted.

It seems that Feedreader isn't supplying the username and password for the protected enclosures. I saw the same behaviour on 3.09 and 3.10.

And not downloading some enclosures at all?

Since I installed 3.11 beta a feed that was downloading enclosures OK with 3.09 is now not downloading them. It is leaving files like download2007101600000005.tmp in the feedreader download directory. If I right-click on the feed item, that's the name shown in the context menu for opening.

The feed is the Manager Tools registered members feed at http://www.manager-tools.com/registered-members/rss.xml, but this content (podcasts on 8 and 15 Oct) is unprotected, i.e. you should also be able to download it without a username and password from the normal feed at http://www.manager-tools.com/podcasts/feed/rss2.

Error message

Message when I try to install this version

ATOM.XSL file not found.

Then

library gds32.dll not found

What can I do to solev that ?

Thanks

This is plain feedreader.exe

This is plain feedreader.exe file,
you must save it to c:\program files\Feedreader30 dir and then run from this location.

Currently this *.exe seems to be somewhere else...
