Error Adding Feed: Socket Error # 10060

Everytime I add a feed, I get the socket error #10060 response. When I go to Tools - Options - Connections - Get settings from Internet Explorer, nothing happens. What can I do to rectify this problem?

have you tested MYSQL editon on other computer. It's likely computer based problem. Also download lates ODBC driver from mysql.com
When ODBC driver crashes, then it will kill also FR.

min. one minute is for safety. If we would allow to enter 1 second or even 5 seconds, this application would be great DDoS tool.

Feedreader directory also contains FeedReader Backup Utility (
feedreaderbackup.exe), leave only Fix possible database errors checked and press start.

This error happens when FR is not properly closed.

Greetings,

there are limitations, but it involves many gigabytes of data. If have a feeling, that FR update engine can't make connection to those feeds.
Have you checked Tools->Options-> Application properties - Connection tab Test Internet Connection.

We had many cases, after updating FR, Firewall rejected connections, becouse application has changed. Or proxy params are changed.

How big is FR database file ?

Update Feed Delay

I'd like to see an option so that FeedReader will wait x minutes after starting to update feeds for the first time and then continue with the regular update schedule thereafter. My machine takes so long to boot as it is and I have found that the feeds updating slows this process down even more. So I have turned off automatic updates and am only do manual updates, but often forget about it for the entire day. Thanks in advance!

I use tag attributes to store information about my feed items. I also change tag structures now and then (I am the creator of the RSS feed in question).

Tag Examples: Northern Europe news, Southern Europe stories, North America.

I would like to make a smartfeed with all articles that contain "Europe" in tags. Today, this is not possible as I have to specify the exact tag. Could you make it possible to define a smartfeed based on a word in the tag?

you can try reset the feeds with a batfile containing
feedreader.exe /reset

run the batfile with FR closed

in options you have "never

in options you have "never hide starred news" in advanced tab..

but you need to have at least one article unread in that view/smartfeed if you have the option "hide read feeds on"

if you always want to see some articles, even if they are marked as read..move them to a archive..

hi jorgen,

there are issues with smarfeeds in sql version, crashes sometimes when editing and other stuff..

this one i also is familiar with..

so here is a quickfix until they FR qrew correct this..

the thing is that the smartfeeds are saved, but for some reason they will not show in the "tree"

if you not already have mysql tools, download and install http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html

enter MYSQL query browser and edit that particular smartfeeds folderID in tbl_sqlfilters for example from root 0 --> to another folder ID that already exists.

exit and start feedreader, now you will see the smartfeed in that folder and can move it.

people here seems to put very little effort in their questions...

do we have to guess what you want ?

do you want to print the hole database, some articles, or what feeds you have in the db or something else ?

anyway i make a guess...you want to print some articles..enter webview for the smartfeed or feed...the open up folder cache in feedreader directory...and then the newest file...open it in your browser --> print

FR does not support this..if

FR does not support mobile editions..if you want it that way, look around for alternatives
