finding the RSS link at Time!

Tom,

Makes me feel pretty brain dead to not notice that the "words" to the left of the "special buttons" led directly to the "pure" RSS feed link :=)

I do understand the "trying to guess it," but I'm an educator and I'm trying to explain RSS feeds to others with less background in technology...and how "easy" they are. This one threw me, but the answer was right in front of me! Still, pretty unfriendly of Time to not include one of the generic logos, or saying "Top Stories via RSS" or such.

Thanks so much.

Hi!
At least in Time's case

Hi!

At least in Time's case you have to choose the first column (left from MY AOL). In most cases you should see normal links and not those special program links.

If you are using Firefox then you sometimes get feed from location bar. If RSS icon appears in the right side of location bar then you can click on it and feed opens up and you see feed link. You can then paste this link to Feedreader. You can also try what happens if you paste www.time.com (eg homepage link) to feedreader.

Internet Explorer 7 has also this kind of feature.

If none of these suggestions help then you can take a look at those special program feed links and from there you will get link by logic. For example we have here:

http://feeds.my.aol.com/?url=http://feeds.feedburner.com/time/topstories
http://us.rd.yahoo.com/my/atm/TIME/TOPSTORIES/*http://add.my.yahoo.com/rss?url=http://feeds.feedburner.com/time/topstories
http://my.msn.com/addtomymsn.armx?id=rss&ut=http://feeds.feedburner.com/time/topstories&ru=http://www.time.com

From here we see that recurring link is : http://feeds.feedburner.com/time/topstories

And this is also the feed's link.

How to "capture/copy" feed when only "special" buttons found?

Friends,

I'm finding more websites that have RSS feeds, like at Time Inc http://www.time.com/time/rss

that do NOT have a generic RSS/XML button to subscribe, only a handful linked to special programs. [My AOL] [My Yaoo] [My MSN] [Add to Google] and [Netvibes]

How in the world can we "find" a pure feed to copy and paste into FeedReader??

Thanks for your help.
