You know it's amazing, just when you think IE can't get any worse and any more bug filled, they release IE7 and TOTALLY out due themselves. How can such a huge and important company as IE release a product like IE7 with a straight face? I mean wow, it just keeps getting worse and worse.

IE6 Solution/Fix

I don't have IE7 but I was having this problem with IE6 what I did to fix it was

1. Open 'Internet Options' under the Tools menu
2. Select the 'Security' tab
3. Click on 'Internet' and click the 'Default Level' button.
4. Do step 3 to 'Local internet', 'Trusted sites', and 'Restricted sites'.
5. Then click on the 'Advanced' tab
6. Click the 'Restore Defaults'
7. Restart 'FeedReader' and it should work.

Hi!
I have some thoughts...

Hi!

I have some thoughts...

FIRST:

Can you then open

c:\documents and settings\USERNAME\application data\Feedreader\cache folder.

There are bunch of files. They are cache for minibrowser. Basically every article is created there. HTML file ise created and then navigated in minibrowser. So now if it does not update minibrowser any more and you jump to some article (what's not displayed yet), does it then create new file there or not? you can by the way delete all files from there and so you can start fresh and see new file creation a little bit better. Please track if file count is changed. Also you can try to open some created files to see if they contain normal articles.

SECOND :

You can try to reinstall MSXML3 from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=28494391-052b-42ff-9674-f752bdca9582&displaylang=en

Internet Explorer uses this MSXML3 but sometimes MSXML gets corrupted and reinstall helps.

THIRD :

If any of these two does not get any good results then I will create special exe with debug information for you.

Please get back to me :).

Greetings
Toomas

Exactly same problems

Exactly same problems, after some time, click on an article but the preview tab doesn't refresh and keeps the older article contents. I am running IE7 and FR 3.07 as well and only a restart of the app helps. I hope you can fix it in the new version! I tried many many readers and I like this one the most.

It is correct that the minibrowser window gets no updates. If it is blank it stays so. If there is a prior article display it is not changed. I have never seen any error messages in this window.

Me too - Browser pane does not update with clicked article w/IE7

This is also happening to me, exactly as the other poster is describing. After some period of time, newly clicked articles just stop rendering as if I haven't clicked anything. My machine is a company laptop running XP SP2 with essentially all of the MS security patches (from all of the "patch Tuesdays") applied. Other than that, it's running Symantec A/V and a Cisco security agent (just trying to think of anything that might be interfering...). I'll keep watching the thread, and I'll also be willing to try any new builds or give back any debug info that you need.

So you click on article and nothing is displayed in right minibrowser? Even no error messages? Did you take the the update in last days or is your 3.07 version earlier?

Whatever the case is, I can put some debugging information in file and we can get over the errors hopefully. Please contact me privately by email toomas (at =) i-systems.ee

Greetings
Latest 3.07 but still see the problem

I am now running the suggested version but still see the problem (perhaps not so quickly but this is subjective). I do not see any diagnostics - where are they displayed? When the problem occurs I dont hear the sound either. Is there any debug code I can enable to help solve this?

This might be feed specific

I am beginning to think this might be feed specific. I have removed http://www.engadget.com/rss.xml from my feeds and have not seen the problem since.

Hi!

Can you try out new release of 3.07 beta (i uploaded it just now)

http://www.feedreader.com/releases/FeedReader307Setup.exe

Now if Feedreader cannot show some article then it will talk out the problems. Can you then reply here with possible error messages?

Greetings
Toomas

Browser pane does not render newly clicked article since IE7 upgrade

Since I moved to IE7 feedreader seems to shortly get to a mode where it does not update the browser pane to the new article when I click on a new article(when FR first starts it works fine for maybe 10 or so articles).

All other functions seem to work and I can still open the articles in a new window. The only way I have found to recover is to fully close FR and restart. This started under 3.06 (with and without the suggested stylesheet update) and still happens with the 3.07 I downloaded a day or so ago.

Been very happy with FR, hope this is fixed soon.
