Automatic syns would be great

I agree with the topic starter, an automatic sync is highly needed.

The option to synchronize is already there...but in order to be useful it just needs an option to do this automatically. The SyncBack option can be a nice workaround for some users (I use SyncBack for automated backups). But it shouldn't be too hard to create a real solution for FeedReader running on multiple machines. Preferably a bi-directional sync every X minutes (and on shutdown). I use FeedReader on the road at my laptop while another instance is still running on my home pc. All i need to be synced is my subscriptions, starred items and read status of the items.

How I synchronize my feedreader database...

-
Although you might have in mind FTP synchronization, I would like to share my experience. I synchronize FR's database via a USB HDD between my work and home computers. Note: I am either at work or at home at a time, so I never change the two databases at the same time.
-
I use a simple sync tool like this one: SyncBackSE, and synchronize my database. My database location is specified in the misc section of the file D:\documents and Settings\USER_NAME\Application Data\Feedreader\feedreader.ini
[misc]
dbdirectory=...(my database folder here)...
-
This works like a charm, and no need to upload anything to FTP. SynBackSE enables also to add encryption to the files on the USB HDD, so the data is secure.
-
Just to share my experience, sorry if this does not answer your questions.
Synchronisation

Hi Thoomas
The synchronisation feature of this program is a must have if you use it on more than one machine.
Looking back through the feature requests there seem to be several outstanding things to do with synchronisation that have come up.

Synchronize when I close
"Is there some way to synchronize automatically the feeds to my FTP server when I close Feedreader?"
Synchronize when I close the application? This maybe better as an option to do a sync on minimise... come to think of it maybe on a schedule or to a particular frequency, every hour or so?

Synchronization between FeedReaders
"it doesn't seen to add new feeds." When you add a feed to one instance and sync, it does not get added to any other instances when you sync them.
This functionality would be very helpful. Maybe it should ask you if you would like to add the feed and keep track of what say yes and no too.

And finally my request.
Synchronisation shortcut
Can you add an option to the right click menu of the system tray icon to do the synchronisation?
it would save an awful lot of clicking!!
Regards
