I have 50.000 read articles in database after 5 days how could I do that... ;-)
What I do is to set the clock ahead for 5 days and then use clean up for messages that are older than 5 days but it's not really straight forward...

Cleaning up all read articles.

You may do that by creating a smartfeed with condition "Status is read", then select all articles in the smartfeed and press delete.
The problem I have is that I always hide read articles, so there is no way to delete them without unchecking the "Hide read articles" setting.

File > Database infromation > Clean up articles > all read articles...

Feed > Delete all read articles

Add a simple item to the already existing menu to do just that: delete all read articles in feed. Useful especially when the option to "hide read articles" is switched on.
