I don't want to use them. I only use 4 smartfeeds to read the articles and all the feeds are organized in folders. I don't have any problems to keep the overview over my 300 feeds. Sometimes I want to click feeds even if they are already read and if I used the hide feature I had to unhide them every time.

Could you detail more why you can't...

What do you mean you can't use the hide features like "hide articles/feeds". Do you mean that you don't want to use them, or that for some reason, these features don't work for you?
-
When I have hundreds of feeds, half of them read, I find it very useful to hide read feeds in order to concentrate on feeds with remaining unread articles. For me, the hide feature is really a way to keep the program simple and easy to read. In the same vein, I wish I could hide non-favorite feeds in order to concentrate on what is the most important to me.

Please don't see this as a try to belittle your idea but I can't use the hide features like "hide articles/feeds" at all and although I want some improvements as well, I'd rather like to see that program be kept as simple as possible.

I can now update my hand picked favorite feeds only, thanks.

You are right, I had forgotten about this feature. By combining my favorite smartfeeds (or feeds for that matter)and pressing "Update feed", I can now launch an update of my favorite feeds only.
-
My suggestion about "Hide non favorite feeds" still remains for the other reasons stated above.

You can make a smartfeed of smartfeeds by combining them. Just to your information.

1 more reason solution 1 does not work

1. Another trouble with solution 1. is that my favorite feeds could be smartfeeds. For example, some of my smarfeeds are just filtered versions of regular feeds.
So solution1 works only if I can make a smartfeed of smartfeeds. But in a smartfeed, I can only see "Feed name", I cannot see "Smartfeed name" when adding a new condition.

Still need a "Hide non favorite feeds" feature

1. Yes, that is partial answer to my question.
The good point is that I can sort the header list by feed with CTRL + 4.
I also assume that by updating this smartfeed, then only my favorite feeds will be updated, and not others, which is what I want.
-
However, it does not 100% satisfy my request.
It is as if you suppressed the "View > Hide read feeds" feature and replaced it with a smartfeed for unread feeds only. It does not exactly do the same thing. With a true "Hide non favorite feeds" similar to "Hide read feeds", you keep your feeds in the original folder structure.
-
2. This does not work for me as my favorite feeds are scattered across several folders and I do not want to change the folder structure.
-
In the end, I still need a "Hide non favorite feeds" feature.
As a "Hide read feed" feature already exists, adding a "Hide non favorite feeds" should be just a small strech to code from the existing function, not too big a deal I guess.

1. You can make a smartfeed which contains only the articles of your favorite 11 feeds...

2. I think you can put your favorite feeds into one folder and then update the folder... but I'm not 100% sure...

Favorite feeds

Could you make it possible to define a subset of "favorite feeds". For example, I have more than 200 feeds, but care most about 11 feeds. Those 11 feeds are my favorite feeds (if I am short on time, I would check those 11 feeds in priority).
-
Then, could you add features to handle favorite feeds only:

View > "Hide non favorite feeds"
Clicking this would display only the favorite feeds.

"Update favorite feeds" when right clicking on the system tray icon.
For example, when I am at work, I want to avoid making hundreds of connections to the Internet. As my feeds are all set to "Manual update", updating only my favorite feeds would keep connections to the Internet to the minimum.

-
PS: A way to define if a feed is favorite or not would be right click on feed > "Add to favorite list".

‹ Link to blogs or websites, not just individual pages Ignore part of an article when deciding if article is new or not ›
